so I know.. Ive been slacking.. not much has really been going on.. my motherrr told me that even though I may think its boring it may not be.. so..

this weekend I went to Surabaya to take part in a Thanksgiving dinner at the consulate generals house. It was nice.. Got to see everyone and have some Indonesian cooked American food.. which wasnt that bad.. Of course I forgot my camera.. which I was kinda bummed.. so im gunna have to steal them from my friends.. ugh haha

this is going to be lame.. sorry

and finally yesterday i asked one of my students to draw some covers for the workbooks that I want to create to be used next year. He got this big grin on his face.. I can't wait to see what he comes up with.. He may end up being immortalized if they continue to use these books after I leave..

anyways we shall see..

tomorrow in English Club we are going to be learning about thanksgiving and making hand turkeys and some other turkey projects.. should be pretty interesting.. also going to be making a surprise for my sister.. cant wait for her to get here.. only 4.5 more dayssssss! woo

ok well hopefully i didnt lose the 3 people that still read this blog.. promise the next few will come fast and will be interesting :)

Knives should not cost 33 cents.. oh and Happy Halloween!

So I had this wonderful idea (along with half the volunteers here in Indo) to carve some pumpkins.. First though I needed some knives.. and im thinking.. OK this should cost maybe 50,000 (which is still like 6 bucks..) but no.. I went with my friend to this store behind the market (which sounds bad itself but dont worry.. its not) This guy pulls out all these knives and Im looking at them thinking.. Man.. Shouldnt these be in a case or something? So the guy tells my friend the price and im zoning just thinking about how unsafe it is and she turns to me and tells me that its 3,000 for one knife and I thought I heard her wrong.. I had to ask her twice just to make sure I heard her right.. So yeah.. they were selling decent knives for 33 cents.. I just couldnt help thinking about America and how that just could NOT  be possible to sell knives that cheap.. blew my mind..

So Halloween.. I had some candy sent to me from America and I made some little candy bags for the students.. which turned out pretty cool if I do say so myself..

So finally I head to school with my big sack of candy.. kinda feeling like santa claus.. HAH.. So I kinda explain what Halloween is about and tell them about trick-or-treating and then.. just to torture them.. I had them come up and in order for them to get the candy they had to say Trick-Or-Treat.. and with their accents.. Man it was funny yet sooo cute at the same time.. I love my english club.. So finally we start carving and honestly.. only pictures can do it justice..

Ok I did not buy this knife and I have no idea where they got it.. but that knife is bigger than the pumpkin..
I left school today with a giant smile on my face.. I love these kids so much they never cease to make me realize what it is that I am doing here..

and in four weeks! Im gunna do Thanksgiving stuff.. Hand turkeys anyone? wooooo!

love you all and happy halloween :)
